The Life-Flight Services are Expanded

The inhabitants of the forests of Pastaza have much difficulty taking their infirmed to the medical centers of Puyo. In March, however, agreements were made that could increase this social service.

The organization Wings of Aid provides air ambulance service, but demand is increasing in the more remote communities.

Their work is made possible by an agreement with the Ministry of Health, which permits transporting the infirmed to the hospital in Puyo.

Over the last year, $169,696 dollars were spent on these flights that benefit the inhabitants of Pastaza and Morona Santiago. But the Ministry of Health provided only $150,000 dollars.

This year, the Ministry assigned 152 000 dollars and Wings of Aid will cover the deficit with donations from the United States of America. U.S. donations also include two small planes that will lower the price for the natives who have limited resources. Another organization that helps is Wings of Hope.

When these aid foundations cannot transport the sick, they hire private planes at the Shell Airport such as Atur, Aeroregional, Tao y Aeroclub Pastaza.

Between the organizations and private companies, more than 50,000 residents in 16 communities in Pastaza y Morona Santiago are mobile.

For this reason, the mayor of Puyo, Oscar Ledesma offered his support of this work through an agreement with Wings of Hope, who will be permitted to obtain another plane.

The Organization of Indigenous Villages of Pastaza (OPIP) will help by providing one of their small planes. The Waorani nationality contributes with Wings of Hope.

In the meantime, the afflictions that receive priority are snakebites, fractures, wounds, burns, and abortions among others

El servicio de ambulancia aérea se ampliará

Los habitantes de la selva de Pastaza tienen más dificultad  para llevar a sus pacientes hacia los centros médicos de Puyo. Sin embargo, hay convenios en marcha que pudieran incrementar este servicio social. 

La Fundación Alas de Socorro presta el servicio de ambulancia aérea, pero la demanda aumentó en las comunas  más apartadas.

Su trabajo es posible por un convenio con el Ministerio de Salud, el cual permite trasladar enfermos hacia el hospital Puyo.

El año pasado , 169 696 dólares se invirtieron  en estos vuelos para beneficio de los habitantes de Pastaza y Morona Santiago. Pero la asignación del Ministerio de Salud fue de 150 000 dólares.

Este año, el Ministerio  asignó 152 000 dólares y Alas de Socorro cubrirá  el déficit con donaciones de los Estados Unidos de América y su similar de este país también le donó dos avionetas, eso le permitirá continuar abaratando el costo para los indígenas de escasos recursos. Otra institución que ayuda es Alas de Esperanza.

Cuando estas fundaciones de ayuda no pueden transportar enfermos, lo hacen las compañías privadas desde  el aeropuerto de Shell: Atur, Aeroregional, Tao y Aeroclub Pastaza.  

Entre fundaciones y empresas privadas movilizan unos 50 000 habitantes de 16 comunidades de Pastaza y Morona Santiago.

Por esta razón,  el alcalde de Puyo Óscar Ledesma ofreció unirse  a esta labor, mediante un convenio con Alas de Esperanza. lo cual permitirá obtener  una avioneta.

La Organización de Pueblos Indígenas de Pastaza (OPIP) ayudará con una de sus avionetas. La nacionalidad Waorani  contribuye con  Alas de Esperanza.

Entre tanto, las afecciones que reciben prioridad son mordeduras de serpiente, fracturas, heridas, quemaduras, abortos y otras.
