Sani Isla, July 29, 2004

Mr. Minister of the Environment,

Presenting

Of our considerations

We offer a cordial and respectful greeting from all those that live in the Quichua communities of San Roque, Centro Añangu, and Sani Isla, and wish you success in work.

Our sole purpose is to inform you, in a respectful way, that we are not in agreement with nor willing to permit the entrance of petroleum companies that are going to conduct activities relating to petroleum, because the damage that they cause will be irremediable; this is in the section of the National Park along the Tiputíni River, in defense of our lands, additionally, this area is considered a protected zone.

Anticipating your understanding, we send our sincerest gratitude.

Sincerely,

Sr. Cirilo Capinon, President of San Roque
Jorge, President of Sani Isla
Sr. Augusto Condo, Vice President
Sr. Pascual Siquhua, Secretary
