As if all that weren’t enough, the biggest threat looming on the horizon is the ITT Block, named after the three oil fields located in this area (Ishpingo, Tambococha, and Tiputini). ITT oil reserves are estimated at 1.3 billion barrels, nearly a quarter of the nation’s total reserves. As the map illustrates, the entire northern section of Yasuni National Park is highly threatened from current and future oil activities.
